Sydney Morning Herald
In the end...this is a remarkable album. It is still true that Chambers is the finest country singer this country has ever produced. She is so far ahead of the competition that listening to her, particularly on a song like Not Pretty Enough, and thinking of other Australian country singers is a bit like watching a racehorse compete with a heard of Shetland ponies

Kasey Chambers "The Captain"
Nothing like going out on a limb to start a new year, but here we go. This album will end up on nearly every "Best of the Year" list by this time next year. Kasey hails from Australia, but her sound is pure folk and country with a style that belies her 23 years of age. Her vocals are a bit of Nanci and Julie Miller, while her writing style and delivery is more like Lucinda or Matraca Berg. Buddy and Julie Miller help out. This album will not be released in the states until later this year. However we know you’re like us and don’t want to wait, so we’re importing these from down under as long as we can get a hold of them. This is a debut like you’ve never heard before. One spin and you’ll never be the same. This album is going to be all the rage by summer and her name will be everywhere. Remember where you saw it first.
